The ADI-R is a semi-structured diagnostic interview to assess behaviours related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ADI-R typically takes between 90 minutes to 3 hours. The course is designed to teach clinicians how to administer and code ADI-R with parents/ carers of children and young people with suspected ASD.

What does the course involve?

·         learn how to code the caregiver’s responses during the interview

·         observe and discuss an administration of the ADI-R with parents/carers of  child or young person with  ASD.

·         trainees have the opportunity to conduct part of a ADI-R  interview  and receive feedback and coding advice

** Clinicians wanting to achieve research level reliability - Deborah offers the “Personal ADI-R Reliability Package”. This includes scoring an ADI-R DVD administration, submission of your own recording of ADI-R, feedback and certificate once reliability is achieved.  This is a separate cost from the course for those who wish to pursue reliability.

Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition- (ADOS-2)

Two-day introductory workshop Thursday 15th & Friday 16th February 2018

FULL - REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED - NEXT COURSE WILL BE IN APRIL 2018
Places limited to 20 participants

What is the ADOS-2?

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a semi-structured, standardised assessment of communication, social interaction, and play.  It provides a series of standardised contexts in which the individual’s social, communication and repetitive, stereotyped behaviours can be observed.  It has been designed to assist in the diagnosis of autism and pervasive developmental disorders and is suggested as a complementary instrument to the Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R).  Standardised toys and activities are used to present opportunities for social and communicative interaction with the examiner.  During these activities, observation of the individual notes the absence of presence of behaviours of interest. A diagnostic algorithm consistent with DSM-V and ICD-10 clinical diagnoses is generated.

Who is the training for?

Mental Health Clinicians, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists, Paediatricians, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists

Who provides the training? Deborah Sweeney

Deborah has been using the ADI-R and ADOS in complex, multi-disciplinary assessments for over 12 years and regularly trains health professionals in the ADI-R and ADOS throughout the Asia Pacific region.

What does the training include?

The two-day workshop provides an introduction to the ADOS-2 as an assessment tool, and is a first step in the process for establishing reliability.  It uses a mixture of large group lecture, demonstration, and scoring, as well as DVD demonstration of the ADOS-2. Training does not include the toddler module.

Prior to attending the workshop, you will be sent a pre-course information pack.  This will contain information about the venue, options for purchasing ADOS-2 materials, and some reading materials.  It will also include a DVD of two ADOS-2 administrations for you to watch prior to attending the course.  You will also be asked to do two practice administrations of the ADOS-2.  This can be done with any child, or as a role play exercise.  This task is to help familiarise yourself with the administration of the ADOS-2.  It is very useful preparation for the workshop.  Detailed information on this will be provided in the pre-course pack.  It is also required that you read the ADOS-2 manual prior to attending the workshop. Therefore to participate in this workshop, you will need to have access to an ADOS-2 kit. ADOS-2 distributors include:
