Child&Youth Mental Health-Intro to Assessm't

This course is designed for professionals working in clinical settings and related areas who want to understand more about the process of child and youth mental health assessment. It involves teaching and practical exercises for participants to develop basic skills in clinical assessment. This course is a prerequisite for the Developmental Psychiatry Course (DPC), Mindful’s well-established one-year part-time course, which runs throughout the year.

About the Course

This course is designed specifically for professionals working in clinical settings and related areas who want to understand more about the process of child and youth mental health assessment. It involves teaching and practical exercises for participants to develop basic skills in clinical assessment. It is a prerequisite for the Developmental Psychiatry Course (DPC) which runs throughout the year.

The course is suitable for a range of professionals who work with children and adolescents. These may include social workers, occupational therapists, psychiatric nurses and psychologists, as well as those working in education, child and famliiy services and general medicine.

Training is provided over 2.5 days of teaching and practical exercises, focusing on fundamental os assessment with children, adolescents, parents and families including
- child assessment
- adolescent assessment
- parent interview
- family assesment
- multidiscipllinary assessment
- risk assessment
- carer perspective
- formulatoin, diagnosis and feedback

DATES:  The course will be held from Wednesday 6 February to Friday 8 February 2019
TIMES:   9:00AM - 4:00PM days 1 and 2;  9:00AM - 12:30PM day 3.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided on days 1-2; morning tea and lunch on day 3.
