What is the ACIA?
The Autism Clinical Interview for Adults (ACIA) is a semi-structured interview tool that can be used to support Autism diagnostic assessment for people aged 16+. Consisting of a questionnaire and interview, the assessment tool covers autism traits, strengths and difficulties, and co-occurring physical and mental health conditions.
What does the training include?

Prerequisite training
Adult Autism Introductory
To be eligible for this training participants are required to have completed the Adult Autism Introductory Course (online on-demand training module), or the one-day live webinar Adult Autism Introductory (offered 2019 - 2022). Please see our FAQs for further information.
Who is the training for?
Mental health clinicians and other professionals working with adults, e.g. psychologists, social workers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, headspace clinicians, psychiatrists and registrars.
Who provides the training?
Jeremy Parr is a Neurodisability Clinical Academic at Newcastle University in the UK. Jeremy and his team have led the development of the Autism Clinical Interview for Adults (ACIA). His research interests include identifying the most effective and efficient pathways for neurodevelopmental assessments of children and adults, and exploring the utilisation and validity of the ACIA. Jeremy has trained clinicians across the world in how to administer the ACIA interview.
Johanna (Jo) Rouse is a Lecturer with the Mindful Autism Program. Jo is a senior occupational therapist and was previously the Autism Coordinator at Orygen Youth Health. Jo has extensive experience in providing individual, group and family interventions for young people with autism and co-occurring mental health conditions.
